Do I have to speak at my first meeting?

Not at all! Many guests prefer to observe how the meeting works first. If we do “Table Topics” (our impromptu speaking session), the host might ask if you’d like to try, but you are always free to say, “I’d just like to watch today.”

Is there an age limit or specific background required?

You must be at least 18 years old to join. Beyond that, our members range from university students and stay-at-home parents to CEOs and retirees. Everyone is there for the same reason: to grow.

How much does it cost?

Visiting as a guest is completely free! You can visit multiple times to find the club that feels like the right “fit” for you. Once you decide to join, there is a modest semi-annual fee that goes toward your educational materials and club operations.

I’m a new Canadian and I’m worried about my accent. Is this for me?

Absolutely. Toastmasters is a global organization. Our clubs are incredibly diverse and welcoming. We focus on clarity and confidence, not on erasing your heritage. It’s a fantastic place to practice Canadian business culture and idioms in a supportive environment.
